School focuses on the needs of students who have learning and/or
physical challenges. Students are ages 3 - 21 and share the goal
of maximizing their strengths toward preparation for an inclusive and
happy adult life. The school day is divided into 8 periods: readiness,
reading, writing, math, homeliving skills, physical
education, vocational skills and job placement. Art and music are
also part of the school week. Students can also benefit from related
services provided in the school, including speech-language, social
work, occupational therapy, physical therapy, hearing impairment
services and vision impairment services, as indicated on their
Individualized Education Plan.
At age 16 many
students are placed in jobs in the Evanston community. By the
time they graduate, students have experienced
several different job placements giving them a choice of opportunities
as an adult. Many of Park's alumni continue to work in jobs they had as
a student at Park.
